MISSING PRESUMED DEAD

by Arlene Hunt

Hodder Headline Ireland.

Summer 1980. Charlotte, her husband Tommy and their two children, Sam and his little sister Katie aged two, are enjoying the beach at Brittas Bay when Katie inexplicably goes missing.

She vanishes, her body never found. 26 years later a young woman arrives on a Dublin doorstep wielding a gun. She shoots the man who opens the door, then turns the gun on herself. Katie Jones has returned, apparently from the dead.

As she lies in a coma in a Dublin hospital, John Quigley and Sarah Kenny, of QuicK Investigations, must delve into Katie’s murky life over the half-century past, and Sarah Kenny soon finds herself in danger on two fronts. A very enjoyable, neatly worked mystery, packed with deft characterisation. Read it on the beach but keep an eye on the kids.
